Batu Arang is a former coal mining town in Selangor. Apart from that, it also well known as brick manufacturing. (No wonder kebanyakkan rumah kat situ binaan adalah terdiri dari clay brick)
Coal was found in Batu Arang in early 1900s and employed 5,000 minners in 3 shifts. Ramai tu!!!!
Air well of the mines still seen covered undergrowth. The air well was dug to a depth of 330m and there are hundreds of tunnels underground stretching the entire town of Batu Arang. No wonder la, paling tinggi pun 3 tingkat. Kebanyakkannya bangunan disini 1 to 2-storey ajer. Macam sarang semut.
